Transport  from airport to Patong beach

Please note that the conference venue is in Patong Beach, not in Phuket Town. They are far apart.

Advanced booking

You may want to do some advanced booking for a car to take you to your hotel so that you can be met on arrival.  Here is the website: http://www.phuketshuttle.com/newsite/

Taxi

http://www.phuket.com/info/phuket-airport.htm

A well-signed taxi stand is located just outside, to the right of the main building. The taxis are red and yellow and are supposed to use their meters but you will probably have to insist that the driver turns his meter on instead of bargaining and haggling for a price.

The average fare from the airport to Patong Beach is around 550 baht (US$1= approximately 32 Thai baht).  This charge is for the taxi, not per head. It is possible that you will have to pay a fee of 100 baht on top of the taxi-meter fare. The trip will usually take approximately 40 minutes to Patong Beach.

You may want to book your Hotel and airport transfer in advance as drivers employed by hotels are generally more friendly and helpful. If you don't have time to book in advance, simply order the taxi to go directly to the hotel of your choice and tell him you already have a booking.

SIM cards & telephone services

SIM cards are for sale at the airport's minimarts and if you go to the International Service Centre on the ground floor there is a lady who will set your mobile up for free. There are also mobile phones for rent (on the first floor) and enough payphones for an army of teenagers throughout the premise.

Only 15 minutes by walk and 5 minutes by Taxi (Tuk-Tuk) approx.THB200/way to central of Patong. The shopping complex name is Jungceylon with over 200shops/restaurants opposite Bangla road.
